DESCRIPTION
The Tell-Tale Heart is a classic tale of gothic fiction – of murder and madness – presented as a tour de force one-man opera.
A man sits in a cell, a tortured soul, cursing the floorboards and that traitorous ever-beating heart.
Edgar Allan Poe’s classic of Gothic fiction is performed by acclaimed tenor James Egglestone in the chilling halls of Z Ward, the home to South Australia’s “criminally insane” for 90 years.
Part of the State Opera’s Lost Operas of Oz series, Dennis Vaughan’s one-man opera is a powerful setting of Poe’s haunting tale.
